Gov. Rick Scott raised some eyebrows when he traveled to New Jersey for lunch Thursday with President Donald Trump.
The two men have known each other for years and when Scott spoke at the Lincoln Day Dinner in March in The Villages, the governor described his relationship with Trump and a previous trip to see him in the White House.

Scott took time on Thursday to restate his opposition to hate groups.
Democrats were quick to pounce on Scott’s visit with Trump, who has been criticized by both Democrats and Republicans since the demonstrations in Charlottesville, Va. and a woman’s death.
“Governor Scott’s self-serving silence on Trump’s reprehensible comments is morally delinquent. The President of the United States has come to the defense of Neo-Nazis and white supremacists, and Governor Scott must condemn Donald Trump for his words – there were not “many sides” responsible for the deaths of three Americans, and white supremacists are not “fine people.” At this critical moment, it is past time for Scott to set aside his self-serving political agenda – anything less than a full rebuke of the President’s words sends a clear message that our Governor will welcome these same white supremacists to Florida with a wink and a nod,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesperson Johanna Cervone.
