Plea deal details released in case of woman charged in Food Stamp fraud case

Cindy Laraine Clark

The details of a plea deal have been released in connection with a Villages of Parkwood woman who held a six-figure job and illegally collected Food Stamps.

Villages-News.com sought the release of the details of a pre-trial diversion contract in the case of 55-year-old Cindy Laraine Clark, who was arrested in March on a warrant charging her with felony welfare fraud. The document was unsealed Wednesday by Sumter County Court officials.

The document shows that Clark will have to reimburse the Department of Children and Families in the amount of $7,015. In addition, she will have to pay a 4 percent surcharge.

Clark also will be subject to urinalysis, breathalyzer or blood tests to determine possible use of illicit drugs or alcohol. She must also complete an anti-theft course and perform 70 hours of community service.

If she completes the terms of the program, the fraud case will be dismissed.

Clark earned $133,191 in wages between Sept. 25, 2015 and Dec. 30, 2016 at her job at Amedisys Holdings LLC in The Villages, owner of Amedisys Home Health headquartered at Lake Sumter Landing, according to an affidavit from the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Public Assistance Fraud.

Between October 2015 and December 2016, Clark collected $7,015 in Food Stamps.

Clark indicated to the Department of Children and Families that she was not employed, the affidavit said.
