Deputies nab Ocala woman wanted on warrant for battery charges

Haylee Easton Whitby

Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Ocala woman Tuesday who was wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with battery charges.

Haylee Easton Whitby, 20, was arrested for failing to appear in court regarding a change of plea in a case involving two counts of battery. Whitby, who taken into custody at 62 Larch Run at 7:25 a.m., was first arrested in the case June 1. She was accused of striking one woman in the face with a closed fist and then getting on top of her when she was on the ground. She also was accused of striking an eye witness with a curtain rod after that person pulled her off the woman on the ground.

At the time, Whitby told deputies that she told the woman she wanted to fight her and admitted punching her in the face and striking the eye witness with the curtain rod. She was arrested for domestic battery on the woman and battery on the witness and transported to the Marion County Jail.

On Tuesday, Whitby was taken back to the jail and charged with failure to appear on the two charges. She was being held on $4,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Whitby has been in the Marion County Jail four times since Sept. 4, 2016. The other three stays in the facility have been this year: June 2-5, June 25-July 23 and the Tuesday arrest, for which she is awaiting her court appearance.
