Carol Jean ‘The Cookie Lady’ Oestreich

Carol Jean ‘The Cookie Lady’ Oestreich

Carol Jean Oestreich, The Cookie Lady of the Villa San Miguel, earned her wings and passed away in The Villages on October 30, 2018 with her loving husband Wayne by her side.

Carol was a left and double lung transplant patient and double amputee below the knee patient. That was gifted 11 extra years of life in this physical body. She passed very peacefully but not without a good fight, her heart simply just stopped and she was at peace.

Carol was an amazing woman with great strength, courage, and her positive attitude and enthusiasm and spirit for life was very contagious. Her kindness and giving nature touched many who crossed her path! Carol lived her dream by having her own restaurant “Carol’s Yum Yum Hamburg” in Toledo Ohio for 16 years. She served the best fresh hamburgers and homemade french fries and of course the best hotdog in town. She would never let anyone go hungry even if they couldn’t pay the bill.

When that chapter was over she found her journey taking her to The Villages of Lady Lake Florida. Carol enjoyed bowling golfing and baking where she soon became known as the “Cookie Lady”. Carol loved baking and she would say it’s her therapy and then make up trays and give them to everyone, and we mean everyone. From the post office gals to every department in Winn-Dixie, all her neighbors, the dentist, the bank drive-through, FedEx drivers, to all the wonderful doctors and staff that cared for our beautiful Carol over the last 11 years! Carol loved them all with her whole heart and being, she will be deeply missed by many. She will be remembered most for her boundless positive outlook on life! An amazing teacher to all of us.

Carol is survived by her devoted loving husband of 53 years Wayne (Ben), her son Keith, her daughter Kimberly, her sister Bonnie, 4 grandchildren and her tuxedo cat Zelda.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The LaHacienda Recreation Center (Ricardo Montalban Room) 1200 Avenida Central The Villages FL 32162.
