Lady Lake man sentenced to jail time after caught driving without license

Ronald Thomas

A 38-year-old Lady Lake habitual offender is spending time behind bars after he was caught driving without a license.

Ronald Allen Thomas pleaded no contest Wednesday in Sumter County Court to a charge of driving without a license. He was ordered to serve 29 days in jail.

Thomas had been driving a silver Buick sedan on June 17 when he was spotted in Lake Panasoffkee by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy who knew Thomas had a revoked license.

The deputy confirmed it was Thomas by checking his Florida identification card. The deputy also confirmed that Thomas’ license had been revoked in 2002 and 2008 and never re-instated.

Thomas has seven previous convictions for driving while license suspended.
