Congressman Daniel Webster will be the featured speaker at the upcoming 9/11 Remembrance Day ceremony in The Villages.
The event, organized by the Veterans Memorial Park Board, will be held at the 9/11 memorial at Villages Public Safety Fire Station #44, located at 3035 Morse Blvd. The ceremony gets under way at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and will commemorate the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in a field southeast of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Villager Gary Kadow and Eric Williamson, of Villages Public Safety Fire Station #43, also will speak. Music will be provided by Jillian O’Neill, The Villages Sounds of Scotland and bugler John Bird, of The Villages Memorial Park Honor Guard. There also will be a rifle salute and the playing of “Taps,” a wreath presentation and a helicopter flyover.
Residents are encouraged to arrive by golf cart, as parking is limited. Those attending also should bring a folding chair, as no other seating is provided.
