Property owners paying for The Villages expansion

To the Editor:

We own property in Sumter County, Webster, and consider it unreasonable to require property owners to pay additional tax to subsidize the infrastructure of a subdivision being developed for the expansion of The Villages.
Such costs should be the responsibility and borne by the builder and the home purchaser through impact taxes.
We also understand that one of the Commissioners owns the concrete business that will be utilized for this project and it should be deemed a conflict of interest. We are not residents of Florida but own 10 properties there, we cannot show our disapproval with voting privilege but understand there is considerable opposition to this tax and hope that it is voiced loudly in the next election.
