Ex-girlfriend jailed after visiting Villager’s house demanding to see new romantic interest

Maria Hernandez

An ex-girlfriend was arrested after showing up at a Villager’s house demanding to see his new romantic interest.

The Villager was asleep with the woman at his home on Aloha Way in the Village of Orange Blossom Gardens at 3 a.m. Monday morning when 59-year-old Maria Josefa Hernandez put her hand through a window at the back of the home, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The Nicaraguan-born Hernandez began screaming in Spanish and said, “She wanted in and wanted to see his new girlfriend,” the arresting officer wrote in the report.

The man called 911. Officers found that that the window at the home had been shattered. Damage was estimated at $450.

He told police Hernandez had lived with him but that they broke up two years ago. He said she “constantly” attempts to contact him with calls and texts, but he ignores her.

Officers found Hernandez at the Microtel hotel in Lady Lake. She claimed she had been in the area looking at houses and wanted to see if she could reconcile with her estranged boyfriend. She said she left a beer in the golf cart to let him know she had been there. When she was asked about the window, she said she had just “smacked” it.

She was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
