James Howard Firehock Jr., 78 years old, passed away on June 17, 2020 after a brief illness.
He leaves behind two sisters from New Jersey. Marion Strauch, her son Mark Strauch and grandniece Morgan Strauch of VA; and Alice DeSantis and her husband John and his children and grandchildren.
Jim was born in Queens, NY and graduated from Richmond Hill High School. He later moved to Colorado, and Sacramento, CA. He was in sales for many years before attaining his dream of working for the railroad (like his father before him) and was a conductor for Amtrak prior to retiring and moving to The Villages in FL.
Jim was an avid model train railroader wherever he called home.
At The Villages he enjoyed playing bridge, game night, bocce, gardening and he loved his roses. He was loved by all of his neighbors and friends there.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.
In Jim’s name, donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 86-20 114th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418 or Habitat for Humanity, 322 W. Lamar Street, Americus, GA 31709-9906.
