Died: October 14, 2022 in Summerfield, FL

Leland L. Knop went peacefully to the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022 with his family by his side in Summerfield, Florida. He was 94 years old. He is survived by his step-daughters Janine (Frank) Standafer of Middle River, MD and Jacqueline Henson of Orange Park, FL. He is survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Lee married Judith (Hubert-Hauger) on January 23, 1976.

Lee was proceeded in death by his wife, Judith; his parents, Lloyd and Hazel (Landreth) Knop; his brother Donald Eugene Knop; his sisters Wanetta Trent and Alice who was an infant. He was also proceeded in death by his son Leland Jr (Buddy), daughter Linda Carreno, and son-in-law Rick Henson.

Lee retired from Grundy County Highway Department, Morris, IL in 1990 after 32 years. He was also a farmer and would travel to southern Illinois to enjoy his farm whenever he had the opportunity. He enjoyed having family gatherings, playing cards, BBQ, making homemade ice cream, and bluegrass music. He could be found enjoying sports on the weekend, especially NASCAR.

Lee was born in rural Effingham, IL, and moved to Ottawa, IL area as a teenager. He then lived in Morris, IL until he moved to rural Salem, IL where he lived for 3 years until he moved to Florida in June 1993.
