Driver dies after vehicle plunges into pond

A driver died early Monday after his vehicle plunged into a pond in Orange County.

Joseph Brodecky, 92, of Winter Park had been at the wheel of a 2008 Buick sedan traveling southbound on Ferncreek Avenue when he left the road and entered a pond near Waterwich Drive for unknown reasons, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. His vehicle then became submerged, the report stated.

Brodecky was pulled from his vehicle by fire rescue and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
