Billie Jean Duty of Ocklawaha was ticketed on a charge of failure to use due care after she attempted to make a left hand turn onto Rolling Acres Road and pulled into the path of a 2007 Buick Lucerne driven by 75-year-old Janet Weidman of The Villages, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Weidman had been traveling west on CR 466 in the far right lane when the vehicles made contact. William Rentz, 72, of The Villages, had been southbound on Rolling Acres Road and was stopped at the red light when the accident occurred. The right rear passenger tire came off Duty’s vehicle, striking the Hyundai utility vehicle driven by Rentz.

A passenger in Duty’s vehicle was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital.
