Three vehicles involved in chain-reaction crash near entrance to Water Oak

Three vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction accident at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 27/441 at Water Oak Boulevard in Lady Lake.

Charles Edward Williams, 32, of Wildwood, was driving a 2006 Chrysler four-door automobile north on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and entering the turn lane when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 2006 Nissan Xterra driven by 42-year-old Jann Vicknel Santiago Lopez of Orlando, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. That vehicle had been rear-ended by a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 45-year-old Amy Melissa West of Howey-in-the-Hills.

West was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.

She was able to drive her vehicle away from the crash scene, but the other two vehicles had to be towed.

There were two other crashes in Lady Lake this morning in wet, foggy conditions.

• U.S. Hwy. 27 and Lady Lake Boulevard where there was a three-car chain reaction collision.

• County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road where there was a two-car collision.
