‘Dancing With Our Stars’ will raise money to support Dollars for Scholars

JIm and Carolyn Hutchens

“Dancing With Our Stars” returns to The Villages at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at La Hacienda Recreation Center.
The event – which raises money for Dollars For Scholars — is based on the famed television show, “Dancing With the Stars.”

Four couples will compete in a variety of dance styles to win the trophy. Last year, Villagers Jim and Carol Hutchens waltzed off with the title.
It all happened on the same night as the couple’s 50th anniversary.
“We practiced for months; we wanted to do it right,” Carolyn Hutchens said that night. “It was exciting and fun.”
Jim “The Z-Man” Zurak and Carol Lutgen of Dollars For Scholars said everybody wins, especially the students.

“There are no losers,” Zurak said. “We raise money to help needy students get an education. That means we’re all winners.”

Over the years, Dollars For Scholars has raised over $400,000 to help local students. “Starry Starry Nights,” was the big fundraiser for the group, but now Dancing With Our Stars” meets the challenge.

Tickets cost $20 for Villages residents. For information, call 352-702-6209 or email caroll@thevillages.net.
