Ruth Arline Smith

Ruth Arline Smith, 93, of Fruitland Park, FL, passed away April 6, 2018. She was born October 13, 1924 in Wooster, OH to Fred and May Whittier Doty.

Mrs. Smith was the Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Wayne County, OH and a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster, OH. She moved to Fruitland Park, FL from Canton, OH in 2009 and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages, FL.

Survivors include: sons Jeffrey O’Brien of Shawnee, KS and Fred (Karen) O’Brien of Fruitland Park, FL; daughter Charlotte (Christopher) Moran of Endwell, NY; 6 grandchildren: Shawn O’Brien, Kelly Kacenjar, Brandon O’Brien, Brett O’Brien, Bart O’Brien and Jesse Moran; 16 great grandchildren; 2 step-children: Holly Smith and David (Diane) Smith; 2 step-grandchildren: Dustin and Ashley Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Donald O’Brien in 1983 and Robert Smith in 2004 as well as a daughter-in-law Penni O’Brien, great grandson Evan O’Brien and 9 siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages FL on Wednesday April 11, 2018 beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jon-Marc McLean presiding.
