Suspect admits making ‘mistake’ after caught with stolen merchandise at Belk

Justin Bradley Grover

A man who admitted to making a “mistake” after he was caught with stolen merchandise at Belk, is facing a charge of retail theft.

Justin Bradley Grover, 39, of Fruitland Park, at about 5 p.m. Monday entered the store at La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

He selected a Fossil wallet valued at $40 and a pair of Under Armour shorts, also valued at $40. He left the store without paying for the items, but was detained by a loss prevention officer, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

He insisted the wallet was his, even though it still had a pricetag on it. He said he made a mistake concealing the shorts.

He offered to make up for his mistake by doing community service.

He was arrested on a charge of retail theft and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $2,000 bond.

In 2015, Grover was arrested on a probation violation.
