Don’t fence us out of green space on Morse Boulevard

To the Editor:

Like many residents of the Village of Charlotte, I have been taking my dog to the community green space along Morse Boulevard. Spending time there with our dogs has become an enjoyable part of our day.

From the March 12 article in the Village-News.com it appears a decision to put up a fence was made with only Mr. Rosser’s input. Considering Mr. Rosser’s lanai faces Morse Boulevard, the claim that he cannot even sit on his lanai due to noise seems a gross exaggeration.

Did the PWAC have noise monitoring done before making the decision? The noise of vehicles on Morse or passing golf cars are the true cause of noise pollution there.

District 10 Supervisor Don Wiley is quoted as saying, “It’s unsightly for the dog park it’s become.” What exactly is unsightly? Villagers enjoying a little open space? Socializing with their pets? Everyone picks up after their pets. The grass is not damaged.

Some Villagers also paid for two benches that are dedicated to their parents. Will the PWAC be moving the benches or will the benches remain to be looked at from the multi-modal path?

The building of a fence here appears to be a solution looking for a problem. I ask the PWAC to reconsider their decision at the May 14 meeting.
