The Blonde says it’s a ‘Man Thing’

I bought a couple of new golf clubs although I am not certain why as I do not use the ones I already have that well. The Blonde in the house says that it is a man thing, but I disagree as I have observed some fanatical members of womankind trying out golf clubs with much abandon. The Blonde, however, does not believe in chasing that little ball all over the place.

Husbands United (a secret society) has much experience with golf problems between mankind and womankind.  Most of the ones HU receive which end up under intense discussion involve husbands wanting to play more and their spouses want less.  Now that certainly does not mean that the husband was wrong.  In fact, I would imagine that if there were a Wives United (a not so secret society).  That there would be discussions involving the wife wanting to play more and the husband believing that seeing a good movie like Thor would be better.

I will make a couple of comments about the above.  First, I receive lots of inquiries as to why I do not speak of cases that have been solved at Husbands United as I did a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately, it depends on your definition of “solved.”  In cases of mankind vs. womankind one has to remember that a case cannot be discussed until the statutes of limitations have passed.  In general law there is a specific length on how long someone can be place in jeopardy.  Womankind does not believe in such statutes but rather long memories which as can readily be seen are not definable.  In short, it is difficult to discuss “solved” cases unless perhaps a notarized womankind signature is presented declaring the matter “solved for all time”.

Now secondly, there was an attempt to start a wives society which became known eventually as Wives United (a not so secret society).  The latter part of the title indicates why that it did not survive past the first meeting.  Now there is no question that womankind can keep a secret as well as mankind as I have been told many times.   So let us look at the record in this matter.  The first meeting was called promptly to order at 7:00 pm and lasted to 11:30 and involved 17 cases.

Somehow (and no one will admit how) by 6:30 am the next morning the results had been posted in fifteen neighborhoods of The Villages and was half way through eleven others – and this was when there were only twenty-six neighborhoods.  I assume that there will be some scoffing at this – and perhaps even some pointed descriptions of my ancestry (Welsh for the record).  The facts are though, if you go back to that time, you will find records of 17 (note relationship to number of cases in above paragraph) complete sets of golf clubs being sold to men the next day in The Villages.

Now as you all know this has been and is a fact based column, and the evidence above can not be just a coincidence.  Finally, it must be noted that my new golf clubs were the result of nothing but The Blonde in the house’s sweet agreement.  The fact that we will be having some wallpapering done is just a coincidence and proves nothing.
