Golf cart snatched while Villages newbies dine at Lake Sumter Landing restaurant

A couple still relatively new to The Villages couldn’t believe it when their golf cart was snatched while they dined at a restaurant at Lake Sumter Landing.

Brian Glocke and his wife, Jody, of Grafton, Wis. followed a well-worn path to The Villages. They rented for a month, planned on snowbirding but quickly changed plans and bought a house in the Village of Ashland. Their next purchase was a Yamaha four-seater golf cart.

This golf cart was stolen last week at Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Lake Sumter Landing.

This past Wednesday night, they went out for two-for-one fajitas at Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Lake Sumter Landing. They came out of the restaurant at 8:55 p.m. that night and their golf cart was gone. They had parked right in front of Cody’s.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and indicates the golf cart, which has a black plastic topper and black-and-red seats, was last seen headed west on Old Mill Run toward Buena Vista Boulevard.

If you have any information about the golf cart or who may have taken it, contact Detective DeArmond at (352) 793-2621 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS(8477).
