78-year-old Lakeside Landings woman to answer in court in theft of facial care items

A 78-year-old Lakeside Landings woman will have to answer in court in the theft of facial care items from Target at Rolling Acres Plaza in The Villages.

Joanne Ferri entered the store at about 1 p.m. Monday, selected the facial care products and concealed them in her purse, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She went to a checkout register to pay for other items, but did not pay for the items concealed in her purse.

After she left the store, Ferri was confronted by store personnel about the stolen merchandise. Ferri apologized for taking the items and attempted to return them to the employee. She claimed she did not have enough money to pay for the merchandise, which was valued at $101.74.

The native New Yorker was issued a notice to appear in Lake County Court.
