Friday the House voted on H.R. 3755. This heartbreaking piece of legislation is an assault on our most fundamental natural right – the right to life.
Wednesday, I was thrilled by news of the birth of my twenty-first grandchild. Her right to life didn’t start as she was born. It was given to her by God – and guaranteed to her as an American by the U.S. Constitution – months ago. H.R. 3755 is also an affront to human rights.
I have heard many of my friends on the other side of the aisle claim that they want abortions to be only for rare and uncommon circumstances – but that is not what this bill enables or promotes. It promotes the horrific practice of eugenics by ensuring abortions are allowed in cases of a possible congenital disorder like Down Syndrome or even simply because of the perceived desirability of the gender of the unborn child.
I have fought to defend the rights of the unborn, to stand for life and to oppose attempts to remove nearly all pro-life protections for the unborn at both the state and federal levels. This is a sad day in America, but I will not waiver in the fight to protect life.
