Villager sentenced to jail in landscaping 'exploitation' case

A Villager was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail after pleading no contest Monday to a charge of exploitation of an elderly person.

Brian Stanely Pacific, 56, of 1409 Gayle Mill Drive, had been accused of charging exorbitant rates for landscaping work done for elderly residents.

He was arrested in December 2012.

In addition to time in the Sumter County Detention Center, he was fined $500 and ordered to pay $50 for each day of his incarceration. Judge William H. Hallman III presided in the case in Sumter County Court.
