Daniel J. Ryan

Daniel J. Ryan, 84, of The Villages, FL, passed from this life on September 29, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 9, 1930, Dan served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 thru 1951 as a Staff Sergeant with the Eighth Marines Second Marine Division Fleet Marine Force. During this time Dan was stationed in Guam. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps, Dan embarked on a thirty eight year career with the New York Telephone Company, where he retired as a supervisor in the communications division. Dan along with his wife of sixty-four years Rita (Bergeron) Ryan lived in Hazlet NJ, Hurricane Utah, before finally settling here in The Villages, Florida in November of 2000. Dan’s greatest passion was his family, aside from that he enjoyed woodworking, stamp collecting, home repair and traveling, which he and his wife Rita did extensively. Dan also gave back to his community in Hazlet NJ, serving as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by his daughter Maureen M Ryan in August of 2014. Dan leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-four years Rita E Ryan, and six children, Stephen D Ryan, Sharon D Ryan, Kathleen A Bricalli, Nancy M Ryan, Daniel K Ryan, and Suzanne T Franzolin. Dan is also is survived by fifteen Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the place of internment, The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in the name of Daniel J. Ryan to the Disabled American Veterans www.dav.org.
