Villager arrested after his golf cart collides with parked vehicle

A 37-year-old Villager was arrested after crashing his golf cart into a parked car on Durango Drive in The Villages.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was summoned to the scene of the crash at 8:48 p.m. Friday.

The owner of a Nissan Altima told the deputy he had been in his home when he heard a loud “bang.” He discovered that a golf cart had struck his vehicle.

The deputy found Christopher Len of Del Rosario Street with front end damage to his golf cart.

Len failed field sobriety exercises and resisting the deputy when the deputy tried to handcuff Len, according to the arrest report.

Len was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest. A criminal history check revealed that Len had been previously convicted of DUI in 2009.

He was booked a the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,500.
