A father and son were arrested after allegedly getting into a fight Saturday night during a family get-together in Fruitland Park.

Fruitland Park police officers had been called to the 1600 block of Brookstone to a report of a fight which had started inside the house and then moved outside.

A police officer chased down Wilfred Wayne Smith, 51, of Weirsdale, who took off running. When the officer caught up with Smith, the officer saw that Smith was covered with blood.

Smith and his 26-year-old son, Robert Wayne Smith also of Weirsdale, had reportedly been drinking all day.

Lake EMS responded to the scene, but both men refused treatment.

Both were booked at the Lake County Jail on charges of battery. Each was released after posting $1,000 bond. Both are due for arraignment April 1 in Lake County Court.
