A 40-year-old Village of Mallory Square man was arrested at Publix at Southern Trace shopping plaza after allegedly phoning in a fraudulent prescription to the pharmacy.

Andrew Lawrence Simpson is facing a felony charge of forgery following his arrest Monday by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy responded to Publix at about 7 p.m.

Simpson had impersonated his dentist and phoned in a fraudulent prescription for Hydrocodone in his mother’s name, according to the arrest report.

He was arrested when he arrived to pick it up.

A criminal history check revealed Simpson had previously been arrested on a similar charge in 2012.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
