A Village of St. James man arrested earlier this year on a charge of driving under the influence has been sentenced after pleading no contest to the charge in Sumter County Court.
Sixty-seven-year-old James Robert Lexander, of Hopespring Loop, had been erratically driving in his golf cart at about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in the St. Charles area. Lexander told a deputy he had been watching football and drinking. He provided breath samples that registered .183 and .181 blood alcohol content.
On Tuesday, Lexander was sentenced to one year’s probation. He was ordered to pay $1,847.30 in fines and court costs and to perform 80 hours of community service.
He will also lose his driver’s license for six months.
