A 20-year-old already on probation was arrested with alcohol and marijuana when he was pulled over on Christmas Eve on U.S. 301.

Dustin Michael Matthews of Summerfield had been driving shortly after 1 p.m. when he was spotted driving a mini-van without a seatbelt, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy discovered that Matthews’ license had been suspended. A six-pack of “Not Your Father’s Root Beer,” still cold to the touch, was found in the mini-van along with marijuana.

A criminal history check showed that Matthews was on probation on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention.
