Villagers For Veterans will hold a fundraiser next month for a young Marine corporal who on his third deployment overseas lost both his legs above the knee and severely injured his left arm.
“He is an amazing young man who is in need of a track chair,” said Marie Bogdonff of Villagers for Veterans.
A benefit for Corporal Justin Gaertner will be held next month in The Villages.
Gaertner was leading a specialized sweeper unit in Afghanistan when a truck exploded. Gaertner rushed in to assess the damage and another explosion, triggered remotely, severely injured Gaertner and killed another Marine.
Ralph and Dawn Dinome with the Flashback band will be performing at the event. The entertainers are donating their time.
