Locked up Mulberry Dog Park

To the Editor:

Below is a letter I wrote to Community Watch, John Rohan and Richard Baier. Was a very frustrating morning for many of us. I know a lot of you could care less about this but those of us dog lovers do care.

On Tuesday, November 13th I went to the Mulberry park.  It was locked.  I totally forgot about the maintenance that day.  Two people were there trying to get in to do the maintenance.  They called someone and were told they didn’t have a key and to climb the fence.  The two men did that.  Put a ladder on either side and climbed over.  One handed the tools needed and then climbed over himself.  I can’t remember if I called Community Watch or John Rohan’s office to advise them these guys were told to climb the fence. I came back later, around 3ish and the fence was still locked.  Supposed to be open at noon.  I called Mulberry and somebody came over about 1/2 hour later to unlock.

On Monday, November 19th I called Mulberry to ask about if the dog park would be open on Thanksgiving.  Told yes, Community Watch opens all outside pools, dog parks and so on.  I then called Community Watch to verify that they would indeed be opening.  Again told yes Mulberry would be unlocked.  Got there Thanksgiving morning about 9:30 and guess what?????  Locks still on the gates.  Called Community Watch and was told they don’t have a key.  We’re trying to reach a supervisor to see what could be done.

About 30 minutes later and man in a Watch car showed up with a huge ring of keys.  Explained Mulberry changed the locks and never gave them a key.  So now we have about 15 people and their dogs waiting to get in.

This is so sad that the lack of communication between these offices is so bad.  Who ever told the men to climb the fence should have notified a supervisor about the key situation.  I hope this key situation is figured out before Christmas and people will want to get in with the dogs.

I assume, most of you are on vacation til Monday so I hope by Tuesday or Wednesday somebody will have cleared up this mess and get back to me with what the solution is.
