The Villages Conservative Action Group members are planning a bus trip to Birmingham, Ala. for a Glenn Beck event on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech.”

The Beck event is planned on Aug. 28 at Guiding Light Church in Birmingham.

Beck has billed this as the “Never Again is Now campaign to raise $2 million for Middle East relief efforts.

“It is about the church standing together, to be unified, not divided, out of concern about things going on in the world,” said Bishop Jim L. Lowe, pastor of Guiding Light Church, who invited Beck to speak at his church.

Beck has been a frequent visitor to The Villages. In addition to book signings at Barnes & Noble and a one-man play at Savannah Center, he hosted a major rally Nov. 21, 2009 at Lake Sumter Landing.

Members of the VCAG Florida have reserved coach buses and hotel rooms for a group round trip to attend the Beck Rally.

The buses will depart at 8 a.m. Aug. 27  and return the evening of Aug. 29.  Motor coach fare is $75 per person, round trip and the hotel rate is based on the amount of people sharing a room.
