The 16-year-old from Wildwood had entered the store accompanied by a 15-year-old female at about 5:30 p.m., according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The pair allegedly attempted to conceal $626.98 in items in a shopping bag and leave the store. A loss prevention officer spotted them and the male fled the store running toward Wendy’s on Bichara Boulevard while the female tried to elude the loss prevention officer in the store, the arrest report indicated.

Thanks in part to the bystander who flagged down an officer, police were able to apprehend the male suspect.

Both are facing charges of grand theft.

The arrest reports indicated their grandmother in Wildwood as their nearest relative.
