CDD 6 supervisors learn their share of cost of reworking of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter entrance

Community Development District 6 supervisors on Friday learned what their share of costs will be for the reworking of the entrance at the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.

The entrance will have the sign wall lowered to about 30 inches and landscaping will be trimmed back to improve line of sight. New lettering will be going up, too.

The entrance has been the subject of several meetings over the past few months. Residents of the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter have pleaded for changes at the entrance due to concerns about safety.

CDD 6’s share of the project will be $5,800.

The remaining $5,600 will be funded by the Sumter Landing Community Development District.

In the last two weeks I have had two near misses with carts,” said Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter resident John Tiernan.

He asked if this will solve the problems at the entrance.

“Your concern is my concern. An engineer has told us this will fix this problem. If it doesn’t fix it, he’ll be back here,” said CDD 6 Supervisor Peter Moeller.

Work should begin in the next few weeks.

Still to be determined is the fate of the speed bumps at this location.

That will be decided by Community Development District 5 supervisors. They have opted to hold off on making that decision until the work is completed at the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter entrance.
