David Epley

David B. Epley, born in Hanson, KY, November 3, 1922, passed from this life into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 16, 2014, at his home in The Villages, FL.

He is survived by his cherished children Anna Speck, Jan (Tom) Mattson, Cynthia (Doug) Bingham, Laura (Ken) Avis, and David (Karen) Epley; beloved grandchildren Nicole (Christian) Vilches, Tara (Norman) Vesprini, Pam Larned, Kevin Mattson, Kenny (Laura) Avis, Douglas (Lindsay) Bingham, Julie (Chris) Chepy, Devyn and Lexi Epley, and thirteen great grandchildren; also by his sister, Wanda Flowers, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Ruth, his beloved wife of 53 years, and precious granddaughter, Erin Mattson.

Upon graduation from high school, David began working at Ford Motor Company as a draftsman. He was involved in the design and plant layout for the building of the B-24 bomber at Willow Run, Ypsilanti, MI. His work was interrupted by his service in the U.S. Air Corps during WWII. He returned to Ford Motor Company and retired in 1981 after nearly forty years in executive management in plant engineering. After retirement he continued to work for several years as a private consultant. Later he and Ruth traveled extensively throughout the United States.

David was a long-time member of Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield, MI and enjoyed many years playing golf. He discovered The Villages and moved from his home in Livonia in 2005 to escape Michigan winters.

He was a member of Fairway Christian Church, The Villages, FL. For many years David has sponsored a child through Compassion International. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to this organization or Fairway Christian Church.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, November 19, 1:00 PM at Fairway Christian Church, 251 Avenida Los Angelos in Florida

A Funeral Service will  be held on November 25, 2014 at Northridge Church, 49555 N. Territorial, Plymouth, Tuesday at 11 AM with Instate at 10 AM. Visitation Monday, November 24 at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia from 5-8 PM.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Compassion International.
