Juvenile taken into custody after allegedly pointing BB gun at 55-year-old woman

A juvenile was taken into custody Monday after he allegedly pointed a BB gun at a 55-year-old woman in Summerfield.

The woman told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that the juvenile had ridden by her on a bicycle, made an obscene gesture at her and then reached for what she believed to be a pistol tucked in his waistband, according to an incident report from the sheriff’s office. After the juvenile allegedly pointed the weapon at the woman, she ran in fear and then called 911.

The juvenile told deputies he had received the BB gun for Christmas and was just out in the neighborhood “having fun with it,” the report said.

The juvenile had no prior criminal record.

He was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.
