Problematic property remains an eyesore in neighborhood in The Villages

A problematic property in the Village of Briar Meadow South continues to be an eyesore in the neighborhood and a headache for Community Development District 4 supervisors.

CDD 4 supervisors voted on Friday to fine the owner of a home at 17192 SE 84th Knight Ave. in the Legacy Villas. The District has been forced to mow the grass at the property and now each time the District mows the grass, it will charge the owner $250.

In September, neighbors complained to CDD 4 supervisors about the property they claim is overrun with mold, snakes, rats, bats and bees. They said they are worried about their own property values.

The owner of the property lives in Nevada, according to  information from Community Standards.

On Nov. 8. a notice of Lis Pendens was filed by HSBC Bank in connection with the property. The Lis Pendens alerts a potential purchaser or lender that the property’s title is in question, which makes the property less attractive to a buyer or lender.

A “For Sale” sign has been in the window for months, but it is not known if there have been any nibbles.
