Don and Mary Westlake of the Village of Rio Grande celebrated their 60th anniversary in a big way this past week with
at Bacall Recreation Center.
The couple, who moved to The Villages from Port St. Lucie, did not want their children to think they had spent the day alone.
So they took a photo with members of the Marine Corps League waving at the camera.
The Westlakes’ children will be visiting at Christmas time.
Don took over the microphone to announce the occasion and secretly had a festive tuxedo shirt under another shirt. He revealed the tuxedo shirt when he announced the couple’s 60th anniversary.
“Reggie Neely and Nathan Pratt were the only ones who knew what would happen and they gave us a cake,” Don said.
The Westlake raised their family in New York.
