Villager knocks off incumbent to win seat on Wildwood Commission

joe-elliottVillager Joe Elliott knocked off incumbent Wildwood Commissioner Robby Strickland on Tuesday, winning a seat at the table at Wildwood City Hall.

Elliott collected 1,538 votes to Strickland’s 1,265 votes.

Elliott, a former Community Development District 8 supervisor who has been active in Republican politics and the VHA, worked hard to get to know people in Wildwood during the campaign.

Strickland went into the election armed with a powerful family name, but may have been hurt by an arrest in an intimidation case which was later dropped. You can read about that case HERE.

Strickland also strongly opposed The Villages plan in 2015 to build 800 homes across from Pinellas Plaza on County Road 466A. Another developer has since taken over that site.
