Villager’s portrait of caregiver snags blue ribbon at Visual Arts Association Spring Fine Arts Show

Awards to the artists participating in the Visual Arts Association Spring Fine Arts Show and Sale were presented at the VAA monthly meeting on Friday. Bridgette Greb placed first with her color pencil mixed media drawing titled “Marissa – The Caregiver.” First place in photography went to Betty Eich for her work title “Dunes.”

The show was judged by Robert Stenstream of Stenstream Fine Arts in Ocala. Acknowledging that art is subjective and everyone sees something different when they look at a piece of art, Stenstream went on to give his thoughts as to why he selected these as the best in the show.

He said that Greb’s work stood out because the drawing is excellent and ‘the total colors are superb. In Eich’s work he noted the composition and colors.

“These works are examples of what your group is doing,” said Stenstream. “It was hard to come up with the winners. The overall quality of the show is excellent.”
