Wood-burning stove blamed in blaze at home on Griffin Avenue in Lady Lake

Firefighters were called to a blaze Monday at a home on Griffin Avenue in Lady Lake.

Lake County Fire Rescue responded to the fire which broke shortly after 5 p.m.

Firefighters were at the scene of the blaze Monday night on Griffin Avenue.

Due to the cold weather, a woman had started a fire in her wood-burning stove. The fire  spread to wood stored near the stove.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was blocking traffic on Griffin Avenue, north of County Road 25, during the investigation and cleanup of the fire.

Lady Lake police also assisted in traffic control.
