Community Development District 7 vice chairman Ron Ruggeri raised the issue of dog waste at Friday’s CDD 7 meeting.
He said the solution is simple.
“Many planned communities have pet waste receptacles,” Ruggeri said.
He recommended the receptacles be placed at postal stations.
The issue of dog waste has repeatedly been raised in CDD meetings over the past few months.
District Manager Janet Tutt said dog waste receptacles at postal stations are not within the purview of the CDDs.
At the CDD 8 meeting, Supervisor Joe Elliott also raised the issue of dog waste which he said has pitted Villager against Villager.
District counsel Valerie Fuchs said the district has no enforcement powers when it comes to dog waste.
“We can put up signs, but we can’t enforce what is on the signs,” Fuchs said.
Elliott said the issue is too serious to ignore.
“We keep saying ‘we can’t,’ but I would like someone to take an objective look at this and come up with solutions,” Elliott said.
