Stuart Campbell is out as director of Polo for The Villages.

A message sent out Wednesday to members of the Villages Polo Booster Club indicated that Campbell is leaving. He will be traveling to his native South Africa to celebrate his father’s 70th birthday. Before that he will be playing polo in Tallahassee and Lexington for the next few weeks.

The Polo Boosters also included in their note a message from the Morse family.

“A quick note to share with you that Stuart’s passion for the game of polo and desire to play has led him to make the decision to get back on the field rather than manage from the sidelines. We’re saddened to see him leave, but excited to see him back in the game. We will be thrilled to cheer him on when he’s playing here at The Villages Polo Club,” the Morse family wrote.

Campbell came to The Villages about three years ago, following Carlos Gracida as polo director.

Campbell’s wife, Victoria, has been a sales agent at Properties of The Villages.

Many in the booster community are wondering if Paige Boone, granddaughter of Villages developer Gary Morse, will be stepping up to to take on Campbell’s role.
