Card-access gate at ‘Wall’ site knocked off its hinges yet again

The card-access gate at the infamous site of “The Wall” has been knocked down again.

The swing-style gate was disabled as of Saturday afternoon.

The “medical gate” off Paradise Drive on the Historic Side of The Villages has been the subject of much debate over the past year.

In August, the developer abruptly and without explanation put up the barrier, immediately compared to the Berlin Wall.

Within a week, the wall came down.

A card-access gate went up a few months later.

Stonecresters and Spruce Creekers have complained about the gate which prevents them from accessing medical appointments, shopping and restaurants in The Villages by way of golf cart.

Scott Wilder of Community Watch told the Amenity Authority Committee this past week that upgraded cameras are being installed at locations including the Medical Gate.
