Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Faiver, of Leesburg, FL,  went home to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, August 12, 2014. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 13, 1938 to Leo and Margaret Faiver. He had a 34 year career with the Oldsmobile Division of GMC, working in different plants at many different jobs, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in 1990. He enjoyed the great outdoors and camping with his family in Michigan, but retired to Ft. Myers Beach in 1992, where he enjoyed walking the many beautiful beaches. They relocated to Leesburg in 2001. He loved hiking and biking and was a ravenous card player. Most of all, he enjoyed cruising and traveling with his best friend and wife of 56 years Diane. He loved the Lord and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where he volunteered at the food pantry. He never thought of himself as anything but ordinary, but he was a hero in his family’s eyes; a source of strength, and he nourished them with his love. He is survived by his wife Diane, son Eric (Enangelina) Faiver of Orlando; daughters Lisa (Stephen) Burch of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Laura (James) Rausch of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Leslie (Steve) Reinke of Linden, Michigan; brother Edward (Rita) Faiver of Adrian, Michigan; sisters Frances Foltz of Lansing, Michigan; and Sr. Helen Faiver of Adrian, Michigan; and twelve grandchildren. A Funeral Mass is planned for 8:30 a. m., Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Community of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Leesburg. Burial will be in Michigan. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in lieu of flowers.
