A Villager was reunited Saturday with three siblings she never knew she had until she was 47 years old.
Villager Peggy Skieczius began her search for her siblings in 1997 when she learned she had been adopted.
Four of the six siblings met this weekend in Mount Dora.
Her parents, Clarence and Mary Carman, had abandoned three of the children in a Trenton, N.J., park with just a box of clothing.
Skieczius was born in a New Jersey state prison after her birth mother’s arrest for child abandonment. Her brother David (whose adoptive parents changed his named to Michael) had been put up for adoption as an infant in California and a sister, Patricia, was offered for sale to a relative for $500.
Left in a park on Aug. 26, 1950, were Carol, 6; Marvin, 5; and Lois, 19 months. The parents were arrested in Albany, N.Y., after about a year on the run.
Saturday’s reunion of Carol, Marvin, Michel (originally David) and Peggy brings the story full circle.
“We finally found everyone,” Skieczius.
