A man with a criminal record is accused of attempting to steal a Pokeman card pack Thursday from the Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.

Wayne Michael Argast, 25, of Belleview is accused of picking up a Mega Swampert Ex pack and then failing to pay for it when proceeding through a self-checkout lane at the store, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He paid for other items but not the Mega Swampert Ex pack valued at $53.48.

When a deputy arrived on the scene, Argast told the deputy, “This is all a mistake, I didn’t mean to do it.”

A criminal history check showed that Argast was already on probation on a charge of trafficking in stolen property.

He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
