A 52-year-old Clearwater man died after his motorcycle struck a tree late Tuesday night in Pinellas County.
Donald M. Heilig had been riding a 2006 Suzuki at 11:31 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and his motorcycle hit the tree, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
He was taken to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he later died of injuries suffered in the crash.
The report noted that Heilig had not been wearing a helmet.
