Villages District Office issues reminder on political activities on District property

With the General Election in full swing, the political activities in the community are increasing. The following information has been created to provide general guidance on political activities occurring in the community:

Pursuant to the District rules, there is no soliciting in the three downtowns: Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood. Candidates and their supporters are permitted in the downtown areas. The squares are for the benefit and enjoyment of the residents/public, and they should not be approached or solicited.

Candidates and their supporters are permitted to stand on the exterior of District owned property such as postal facilities and recreation centers, but are not permitted to obstruct the free flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic, interfere with scheduled activities or hassle individuals.

Any questions with regard to political activities allowed or prohibited should be directed to Janet Tutt, District Manager at  751-3939.
