Fast casual burger & frozen custard restaurant may be coming to Trailwinds Village

A fast casual burger restaurant may be the newest addition to the Trailwinds Village.

Culver’s, which bills itself as a “family-favorite restaurant known for their local ButterBurgers, Fresh Frozen Custard & Wisconsin Cheese Curds,” may soon own a parcel in the new development as it works with city officials.

During remarks made at a luncheon at the American House assisted living community, Wildwood Development Services Director Melanie Peavy indicated that the city was in talks with the popular Wisconsin-based chain.

“It looks pretty promising on our end” commented Peavy in reference to the city’s progress with the restaurant.

With over 600 locations nationwide, and over 40 in Florida, Culver’s is looking to aggressively expand down south, promising at least four new openings in the Sunshine State alone. Outside of the midwest, where the company got its start over 30 years ago, there are more Culver’s in Florida than any other state in the nation. For those looking to get a taste of the restaurant before they move next door to The Villages, the nearest locations currently are in Clermont and Tampa.

The Trailwinds Village development, located across from Pinellas Plaza on County Road 466A in Wildwood, has been taking shape at a rapid pace. Lowe’s, ABC Liquor and Circle K gas station have all committed to the property, and Peavy indicated that Lowe’s has already started initial development as of last week.
