Rotary Club bringing chili, garden show to Lake Sumter Landing for annual cookoff

Scents of chili, appliances and flowers will fill the air next weekend as The Rotary Club of The Villages hosts its annual Chili Cookoff and Home and Garden Show at Lake Sumter Landing.

The 22nd installment of the event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. The chili tasting begins at noon.

Large crowds are expected for the event, with the club estimating more than 25,000 to be in attendance.

The Rotary Club of The Villages donates proceeds from the event to multiple local organizations, including Take Stock in Children, The Buffalo Scholarship Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and Boy Scouts, among others.

Golf course deserves a failing grade
